Rockford Campus is hosting the New Faculty Orientation tomorrow night (Dec. 27) from 5:30 - 7:00. Since this is the first NFO that I will be experiencing (I started here on Oct. 9 and missed the first one), I would appreciate hearing what you try to cover during your "15 Minutes of Fame." Actually, I'm not sure how long I have, but probably not very long, since there's a lot of information in their packets that the Dean needs to cover and we only have an hour and a half.
I am developing my outline but I think it would also be helpful to know what you veteran RC librarians cover during these sessions, in a nutshell.
Thanks! from Linda D.

Call numbers
I cannot locate a Library of Congress number for an item, but it has the Dewey number 784.5. The item is a DVD titled Elvis: Rare Moments with the King, ISBN 076621091X.
Any suggestions where I can find the LOC number? Is there a website which shows the Dewey and LC equivalents? (I've already looked for the item in First Search and the Library of Congress catalog.)

APA
As we were discussing the difficult citations, Kate had mentioned that students expect us to know and help. I wasn't suggesting that we not help, just that we don't need to create a handout with every possibility. And even when we do help, we should guide them through figuring it out for themselves and help them to understand that some of this is subjective. Even point out to them that there is not just one right answer in some cases. Yes, it is complex and we may end up just basically doing some of the citations for them. I'm here... & Question
Hi everyone! I've been lurking, but finally got things straigtened out :-)
Anyone else getting students wanting to make their papers "pretty"? adding pictures to title page and/or within their papers, etc. and thinking their Ref page should pretty as well. Or have been told by one of their instructors that they like pictures used in papers? Just curious. Thanks!

Howdy, y'all!
I have edited my profile although it seemed to leave out some of my comments. Hmmmm.... Don't know about y'all, but I am loving these templates that Emily has created for us to use. Of course I'm not finished with any of my assigned topics yet -- probably because I'm too busy playing around on the library blogger. But, hey! This is educational, too, right?

ALEPH Questions
Any questions about ALEPH? Stats you are trying to run but can't? Items you are trying to catalog but are being stubborn? Post your questions here, and answer any that you can...
Frequently Used Websites
In order to get a list together quickly without a lot of e-mails back and forth, please use the blog to link up your frequently used websites. If you need to send the passwords to me separately, please do so (in an e-mail). You may want to include a brief description of the website when you provide the link here. I will compile the sites so that we have a list for our binders.
