ILS/OPAC Vendors

As you know, when Heather and I attended ALA we were able to visit a number of ILS vendors. There is a spreadsheet on CHIPSnet that I created with vendors, their urls, our respective notes, etc . The document is in the OPAC Committee folder, and I have additional articles if you are interested.

Please take a look at the products and provide any feedback you may have on them- who do you like/don't like? Pros/cons?

Thank you!

I just did a demo for Vubis Smart of Extensity Library Solutions. I was impressed. The OPAC looks clean and clear. If the student enters a misspelled word, they are given suggested spelling suggestions. A search result provides related terms and related authors. Icons vary for each format- ie. icon of a book, video, play script, etc.

Try out the demo:

Wasn't Gustavus College unhappy with PALS? Would a librarian from that college be willing to visit with us in November and give a short talk on what they are doing or looking at? Could we have a couple of unhappy PALS users who have alternative ideas come and share?
