I used to work at the William Mitchell Law School Library, and they updated their OPAC this past spring.
I really like their link for social bookmarking with options of Delicious, Google Bookmarks, Facebook, etc.

Are you using the link feature, or are you just copying and pasting it in? That may make the difference..
I like the idea... Is there someway this can be on the student portal or would it be on the actual library site?
