May highlights

What are you excited about for the month of May? What display/theme are you doing for May? Do you have any open workshops or faculty development sessions scheduled?

I'm focusing on NetLibrary this month. My bulletin board shows covers of e-books relating to Mental Health Month. Next week, I'm holding open workshops on NetLibrary. In two weeks, I'm holding two faculty/staff development sessions about using NetLibrary and the catalog. I've also invited the admissions team and administrative staff to the development session and have already had quite a few RSVPs.

I'm doing Physical Fitness and Sports Month. The bulletin board outside of the library has quotes in talk bubbles from different people about physical fitness. I have a display inside the library of various physical fitness and sports books and DVDs. I have also finally created a crossword through Eclipse Crossword dealing with physical fitness that the students can complete for the chance to win a gift card.

Thank you for posting this.

Fort Myers (yes, even without a librarian) did "Get Caught Reading" month. The admin took pictures of the staff in different poses with books from the collection. She has a kind of knack in digital photography and the pictures look really good.

I am excited to be working on the non-credit information literacy class, and the assessment project. And budget.

No workshops. I don't think.

One of my bulletin boards is: Happy 150th Birthday, Minnesota. I have images of book covers that we own about Minnesota. My other bulletin board is for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. I printed off e-book covers about this topic, and I have images of the print-books that we own at Eagan campus about Asian Americans. Also, I have books on display in the library for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

I have a book display for Asian Pacific American Heritage month and will also have a Domestic abuse one as we are having a speaker in from CADA to talk about Domestic abuse. Seems we see a lot of that in our female population. I would like to do a workshop on Paraphrasing and quoting this month, I just need to get the date nailed down.

I'm doing Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, creating a display, crossword puzzle, and book selection. The Diversity Committee at my campus is sponsoring a "Eggs Rolls With Steve Yang"(Fin. Aid) event as well.

St. Cloud is celebrating "Law Enforcement Appreciation Month". The bulletin board features the Criminal Justice area of study, it highlights some videos on YouTube that deal with police appreciation and of course books from our collection on the topic.
